The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces services for Mrs. Ruth Gladys Plott Cantrell, age 97, of Blairsville, who passed away Monday, May 23, 2011 in Union County Nursing Home.

Ruth was born on October 26, 1913 in Towns County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Smith and Nora Plott. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and had a passion for flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Cantrell; Infant Son, Max Hemphill; Grandsons, Michael Walden and Walter Ogden, Jr.; Her Parents and all thirteen siblings.

Mrs. Cantrell is survived and will be missed by her Son and Daughter-in-law, Bill and Wanda Cantrell of Blairsville; Son and Daughter-in-Law, James Hemphill and Maxine Collins of Blairsville; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Bobbie and Walter Ogden of Jesup, Georgia; Daughter, Sue Walden of Dahlonega; Daughter, Johnnie Height of Hampton, Georgia; Daughter, Bennie Quirk of San Marcos, California and Son, Elwood Hemphill. Many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and several Great- Great Grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Guy Bradley officiating. The family will recieve friends at the Cochran Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers; Rex Hemphill, Jerry Hemphill, Kenny Hemphill, Wayne Roberts, Homer Powell and Ervin Plott.
