Ruth Brooks

Ruth Ann Kovsky Brooks, age 89, was called home on May 17 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was born January 7, 1935, to Steve and Galia Ross Kovsky. Her priorities were God, her family, and church. She was the “glue” of the family, cooking after church Sunday dinners and hosting other family gatherings, always with a cake or other dessert, until she became physically unable. Each family member knew to not leave a glass or dish unattended until finished or she would have it washed and put away before you could return. She took great pride in having a clean home, she loved to travel, she was a prayer warrior, and an active member of Coletown Baptist Church. She was a great supporter of missions serving for years as President of the church WMU. She was a weekly volunteer for many years at the Copper Basin Baptist Crisis Center always making sure the kitchen was clean.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Eulan Brooks, brothers Steve Kovsky Jr., Roy Kovsky, and Ralph Kovsky, sisters Mary Nell Watson and Shirley Matthews. Survivors include daughters Carol (Todd) Dilbeck of Blue Ridge, Karen (Randal) Hensley of Ellijay, and Kathy (Terry) Pack of Copperhill, grandchildren Aaron (Dawn) Martin of Warne, NC, Alanna (Ray) Soldinie of Prattville, AL, and Matt Hensley of Ellijay, GA, great-grandchildren Logan Martin of Epworth, GA and Mia Grace Soldinie of Prattville, AL, sister-in-law Pat Holden Kovsky-Dotson of McCaysville and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 19, at 4:00 pm in Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Smith officiating and visitation preceding the funeral 2:00 – 4:00. Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, GA is in charge of arrangements.
