Mrs. Ruby Lee Panter, age 91 of Blue Ridge, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Mrs. Panter was born April 14, 1921 in McCaysville, GA to the late John J. Roberts and Laura Dotson Roberts. She was the oldest living member of the McCaysville Church of God, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Panter Sr., daughter, Sandra Sue Panter Russell, brothers, Ralph Roberts, and Lewis Roberts, sisters, Della Baker, Myrtle Colberson, and Nelly Dilbeck. Ruby was a great cook, she liked to crochet and she liked visiting and being social.
Survivors include: son, Thomas E. Panter Jr., son, James "Jimmy" C. Panter, granddaughter, Antwynette Long, grandson, Thomas Edward Panter III, granddaughter, Anastasia Waters, grandson, Bobbie Russell, granddaughter, Jean Ann Mills, granddaughter, Rachel Michelle Ulrich, granddaughter, Shannon Courtney Marino, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, Alyssa, Ansley and Justin Long.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the McCaysville Church of God with the Pastor Steve Lamb and Dr. Don C. Allen officiating. Music provided by the McCaysville Church of God. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery . Pallbearers include Thomas E. Panter III, Bobbie Russell, Jason Mills, Seth Russell, Robbie Long, Nicholas Long, Alex Long, and Chris Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be the gentlemen from the McCaysville Church of God.
The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home on Friday, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm and also from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Friday evening.
