Mrs. Ruby Alwayne Wimpey of Blairsville, passed away Wednesday evening, April 1, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Wimpey was born in Blairsville on November 1, 1934, a daughter of the late Paul Vandiver and the late Iowa Collins Vandiver. She was a lifelong resident of Blairsville, and a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church. Mrs. Wimpey loved baking and sewing. In the past she had worked at Georgia Boot, Owenby Manufacturing, and was a CNA at Union County Nursing Home. Mrs. Wimpey loved and cared for her family, especially her grandchildren.....but most of all she will be remembered by how much she loved her Lord and served Him for the past 68 years. Her husband, A.J. Wimpey, preceded her in death, and also a son, Ronnie Wimpey, and a sister, Mary Lou Whitt.
Beloved by all who knew her, she will be greatly missed, especially by her family members: daughter and son-in-law, Becky and John Seabolt, of Blairsville; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Nicholas and Shelly Wimpey; grandson, Matthew Wimpey; and great granddaughters, Ava and Taylor Wimpey.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wimpey have been scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at Old Liberty Baptist Church. The body will lie instate at the church starting at 1:30 p.m. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Nicholas Wimpey, Troy Collins, Jerry Collins, Roger Dyer, Brent England, and Kevin Collins. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, A.J. in Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will meet with friends at Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville on Friday evening, April 3, 2015, between the hours of 5 until 8 p.m.
