Roy Edward Robertson

It is with heavy hearts, but with a celebration of one redeemed through salvation, that we announce the passing of Roy Edward Robertson of Hiawassee Georgia. Born February 28, 1935 in Duluth, GA, Roy joined his savior in paradise on November 9, 2023.

Roy was a strong man of faith, serving as a humble child of Christ at Mountain Park Baptist (Lilburn, GA), McConnel Memorial (Hiawassee) and was most recently a member of Old Shooting Creek Baptist (Hayesville). Roy not only served his creator, he also served his country in the US Army. After 34 years with Kraft Foods, he retired as a Regional Vice President in their Planning and Production Division.

Roy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Gail White Robertson; his father Joseph Luther Robertson and his mother Catherine Walker Robertson Stone and step-father Leroy Stone.

Roy was a caring and devoted father to his beloved sons, Michael and Mark, and their respective wives, Connie and Sherry. He was an integral part of their lives, providing unconditional love, biblical wisdom and faithful support. He leaves behind a rich legacy for his children to carry forward. The love, joy and humble servitude continued forward as he poured into the lives of his grandchildren: Amanda Robertson Wood, Jennifer Brown Thompson, Emily Catherine Robertson, Austin Connor Robertson, and Lindsay Elizabeth Robertson, and his seven great-grandchildren. Roy also carried his servant’s heart into the community by serving fully the role of deacon, helping neighbors in all manners, doing jobs and services that many never directly saw. His humility, coupled with strong work ethic and Christ centered convictions, created a solid foundation for his family to build upon. His presence will be dearly missed, but his sharing of God’s eternal promise reassures us that we will be united once again in Christ’s redeeming grace.

A Funeral Service will take place on Sunday November 12, 2023 at 4pm at Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Stephen Wood officiating. The following will be pall bearers: Joe Foster, Glenn Robertson, Neil Robertson, David Thompson, and Austin Robertson. Interment will follow at Osborn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 12, 2023 at 3pm.
