Roy Lee Holsonback, age 68 of Epworth, Passed away suddenly at his home on December 5. After he graduated from Cartersville High School, Roy worked for many years in all aspects of the construction industry, both residential and commercial. But he was most proud of his military service, during which he was a member of the Red Devils and served in military intelligence overseas during the Cold War. He received an Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Metal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon, and was rated Expert in both rifle and handgun usage.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Holsonback, his brother, James (Big Jim) Holsonback, nephew Gary Weaver, grandparents Lucius and Lena Holsonback and J.D. and Myrtle Smith.
He is survived by his mother, Betty R. Holsonback, sister Linda Holsonback, sister-in-law Betty E. Holsonback, nephew Mark (Melissa) Holsonback, niece, Amanda Weaver, uncle, Roy (Alice) Smith, aunt Carolyn Clark, several grandnephews, and grandnieces.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date.
