Roy Frank Aderhold passed away after a brief illness on September 14, 2017. He was 83 years old.
Roy was born on July 18, 1934, in McCaysville and lived his entire life in the Copper Basin area. After graduating from McCaysville High School in 1952, he started work as a union machinist at the Tennessee Chemical Company. It wasn't long before he was drafted into the United States Army where he served for three years on active duty and then as a reservist until 1963. While in the Army, Roy was in charge of all vehicles in his company in France. Whether you were a Sergeant or a General you had to see him to get a car. Ironically, this would prove true for many Fannin County citizens in future years. If you needed a car, you had to see Roy
Roy continued to work for the Tennessee Chemical Company until 1990. He also served for many years as a loan officer for Copper Basin Federal Credit Union and was elected to the board of directors in 1994, where he served until his death.
After leaving TCC, Roy joined Mountain Valley Motors as a salesman. He worked at Mountain Valley until 2014, and even then Roy couldn't quite let go of his love for cars. Until his passing, he continued to sell vehicles on consignment from local used car dealers in the area.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Guy & Juanita Aderhold and his in-laws: Everett & Susie Sisson.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Aderhold; son Michael & Wendy Aderhold; daughter Lisa and Shawn Hood; four grandsons: Nathan & Rachel Malone; Christopher & Kate Malone; Ty Aderhold; Nicholas & Andrea Hood; one great-grandchild Elizabeth Malone; and his Aunt Martha & JE Adams and Uncle Tom & Audine Aderhold
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, September 17, at First Baptist Church McCaysville/Copperhill at 4 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2-4pm. Graveside service and interment will be at the Crestlawn Cemetery in Frytown Ga.
