Rowena Addington Akins

Mrs. Rowena Addington Akins, age 91 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at Heartland Hospice in Dunwoody. Mrs. Akins was born Friday, February 18, 1916 in Union County, GA to the late Joab and Della Gillespie Addington. She was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Akins.
Survivors include: daughter, Frances Akins Dickey of Chamblee, GA, daughter, Betty Akins Austin of Douglasville, GA, son, Michael J. Akins of Blairsville, GA, sister, Mary Martin of Knoxville, TN and brother, John Addington of Marietta, GA. 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Scott Dickey, Ken Dickey, Michael Sam Akins, Chris Jordan, Belinda Barker and Regina Jordan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Saturday, October 27.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, 4598 Barclay Dr., Dunwoody, GA 30338.
The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
