Rose Butt Cruise

Mrs. Rose Cruse, age 99 of Morganton, passed away December 18, 2012 at Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Mrs. Cruse was born January 27, 1913 in , GA to the late Allen Butt and the late Polly Brawley. She was a loving mother and grandmother and the oldest member of Concord Baptist Church. She loved gardening, cooking and canning, she was a hard worker with a long work ethic, she was strict in her beliefs and didn't let her age slow her down, at the age of 90 she bought herself a garden tiller to continue her love of gardening. She worked for the US Forest Service and Taylor Jones Furniture Manufacturing. She was preceded in death by father, Allen Butt, mother, Polly Butt, husband, Filma Clyde Cruse.

Survivors include: daughter, Geneva Cheek, Wayne (Helen) Cruse, son, Clyde (Cathy) Cruse, daughter, Kathy Cruse, sister, Nola Woody, granddaughter, Robin Smith, grandson, Scott Cruse, grandson, Stephen Cruse, granddaughter, Kelly Cruse, grandson, Vaughn Cheek, grandson, Greg Cheek, grandson, Derick Cheek, grandson, Jason Cheek, granddaughter, Jennifer Smith, granddaughter, Jacquelyn Rapp, twenty great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Davenport, Rev. Greg Long, and Rev. Tim Garrett officiating. Music provided by Angie Cox and Ralph Grice. Interment will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Scott, Stephen, and Kelly Cruse, Vaughn, Greg, Dereck, and Jason Cheek. Honorary pallbearers are; Carlus Wilson, Gerald Connor, Hayden Crawford, Wade McDaris, Ryan McDaris, Andrew McDaris, Mason Cruse, William Smith, Winston Cruse, Winfred Cruse, Jr., Rodney Smith.

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
