Ronald Ray Van Pelt

Mr. Ronald Ray Van Pelt, Sr., age 76 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Van Pelt was born in Jacksonville, FL to the late Arthur and Annie (Huffington) Van Pelt. He moved to Blairsville 8 years ago from Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Van Pelt was a member of First Baptist Church Of Blairsville, Gideons International and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He retired from the Duval County School system with 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by son, Ronald Ray Van Pelt Jr. in September of 2007.
Survivors include: his wife, Joann L. Van Pelt of the home, son and daughter-in-law, Charles Eric and Christina Van Pelt of Peru, South America where they serve as missionaries., sisters, Betty V. Schroeder and Sarah Higley and brothers, Arthur Van Pelt and George Van Pelt all of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Joanna, Matthew, and David.
Graveside services will be held Monday, November 22, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating.
