Roberta Townsend Hooper

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Roberta Townsend Hooper, age 102, of Young Harris, Georgia, who passed away on Monday, February 5th, 2018.

Mrs. Hooper was a native and lifelong resident of Young Harris, Georgia, and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Young Harris. She had been preceded in death by her parents, George Townsend and Ollie Bryson Townsend; her husband, Harve Hooper; a son, Vinson Hooper; and brothers, Edward Townsend and Ray Townsend.

Mrs. Hooper will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her loving family members: sons and daughters-in-law, Max and Virginia Hooper of Franklin, North Carolina; Hines and Shirley Hooper of Young Harris; Jack and Sonia Hooper, of Panama City, Florida; James and Rita Hooper, of Young Harris; Terry and Paula Hooper, of Blairsville; daughters, Opal Choate, of Sugarland, Texas and Ruth Hood of Young Harris; daughters and sons-in-law Faye and Charles Lasiter, of Bakersfield, California and Grace and Ronnie Burch, of Hayesville, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Dortha Townsend, of Cleveland, Tennessee; 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren also survive, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 9, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., to be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Burial will be in Old Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Harve. Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Thursday evening, from 6 until 9 p.m., and also on Friday, between the hours of 12 noon until 2:00 p.m.
