Roberta C. “Bobby” Champlin, a beloved member of the Hayesville community, peacefully passed away at her home on January 2, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on August 2, 1931, in Warren, Ohio, Roberta lived a long and fulfilling life.
Bobby dedicated many fulfilling years to the retail industry, serving as a valued cashier at McDonald's, where she became a familiar and cherished presence at the service window. Her warm smile and engaging conversation brought joy to countless customers, making every visit a treasured experience. Bobby worked for banks and mortgage companies as an underwriter in Florida and Texas before moving to Tallahassee to work for the State of Florida in the Treasury Department.
In addition to her retail and banking accomplishments, Bobby was a proud 42-year member of the Sports Car Club of America, sharing her enthusiasm for motorsports with fellow enthusiasts. She spent many cherished years in Florida.
Bobby’s adventurous spirit thrived as she traveled alongside her dear friend and companion, Bruce, creating memories that enriched their lives. Among those travels were many special cruises, especially to Canada and New England.
Roberta C. “Bobby” Champlin leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and friendship. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, and her joyful presence will be deeply missed.
Bobby was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Champlin, Jr.; Father, William Recht; and mother, Blanche Recht.
She is survived by her stepson Bradley Champlin and friend, Bruce Carlson.
