Robert Vernon Mourer

Robert "Bob" Vernon Mourer, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Stonehenge Assisted Living facility in Blairsville, GA. Bob was born September 30, 1924 in Warren County, Indiana, the second son of Harold and Bessie (Greenwood) Mourer. Bob graduated from Williamsport High School in 1942. After graduating he completed two quarters of pre-engineering studies at Central Normal College in Danville Indiana, before enlisting in the United States Army in 1943 and served as Master Sergeant under General Omar Bradley during WWII.

After being discharged in 1946, he enrolled in Perdue University and graduated in June 1948 Magna Cum Laude with Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering Degree. He was employed by Babcock and Wilcox to manage their boiler division, just prior to his graduation. He worked out of the Chicago office before transferring to Denver, Colorado. He and his family moved to Golden Colorado where he lived until he retired in 1978. While in Colorado, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and contract bridge. After retirement Bob and his son John moved to Mineral Bluff, GA where he lived until his recent illness.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane Ellen Mourer of Denver, Colorado, son, Robert John Mourer of Murphy, NC, a brother, Gerald Eugene Mourer of Mt. Vernon, Indiana and a sister, Marcia Carolyn Beaty of Bradenton, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, GA. Burial and graveside rites will be in West Lebanon, Indiana.
