Robert Henry Taylor, 90, of Blairsville, Georgia peacefully passed away Friday, July 8, 2022, at his home. Robert was born March 24, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York to Harry Taylor and Rosina Pipitone.
Robert proudly served his country and retired as a Captain in the Air Force Reserves. He enlisted in May 1951 and retired in 1974. He served in many capacities over those years during his service including but not limited to the following:
He attended basic training at Lackland AFB, Tx, and was promoted to PFC. Robert attended Teletype Operations School (Honor Graduate) at F. E. Warren AFB, Wy Nov. 1951, and was promoted to Cpl. He Attended the Technical Instructor course at F. E. Warren AFB Wy Feb 1952. Served as an instructor for Teletype Operations school. Mr. Taylor was reassigned as Comm. Center Supervisor to Detachment 2 608th AC&W Sq, Cho Do Island N. Korea Jul 1952. Received "Secret" level security clearance, promoted to Sgt. Returned to U.S. Jul 1953, Assigned to Hq 507th Tactical Control Group, Pope AFB NC. Promoted to S/Sgt. He was Honorably discharged in May 1955. He later reenlisted in the USAF Reserve Nov 1963 as S/Sgt. Served as Comm Center Supervisor 435th Troop Carrier Wing, Homestead AFB, Fl. Promoted to T/Sgt. Applied for commission as Data Systems Officer, 435th Troop Carrier Wing, Homestead AFB, Fl. Commissioned Capt. USAF Reserve May 1966.

USAF Presidential Unit Citation - with 1 oak leaf (2 awards).
USAF Good Conduct Medal - with 3 oak leaves (12 years)
National Defense Service Medal.
Korean Service Medal - with 3 campaign stars (4 awards)
USAF Longevity Service Medal - with 2 oak leaves (12 years)
Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
United Nations Korean Service Medal.
Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
South Korean "Ambassador of Peace" Medal.
Robert worked as a Data Systems Analyst and was a proud member of the Raymond Davis Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Taylor; mother, Rosina Pipitone, son Paul Edward Taylor, and son-in-law Barry Stamp. He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Janice Marie Walters-Taylor; children, Angelica (Phil) Rose Palank Sharlet, Theresa (David) Taylor Spock, Roberta (Donald) Louise Taylor Hall, Daniel Keith Taylor, and Lisa Marie Stamp; grandchildren, Josef (Kate) Paul Palank, Taylor Rose Palank, Jennifer Marie Oeler, Amanda Margaret Stamp, Brianna (Andre) Sharlet Genie, Alexander (Kaitlyn) Leland Spock; and great-grandchildren, Jack Daniel Oeler and Lucy Marie Oeler.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Taylor residence located at 480 T J Christian Lane; Blairsville, GA 30512. All are welcome.
The family will hold an open reception at Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
