Ray spent almost all of his adult life in East Tennessee and settled in Copperhill where he enjoyed a wonderful life full of friends and family. He worked as a Barber until just a year ago. An avid sports fan who read the news from front to back each day as he was always looking for a game in the sport he played and loved the most, GOLF. Ray was always tinkering with something at home or in the garage; an automobile or golf club that needed repair or maybe it didn't and he just wanted to mess with it. Ray was a member of the New Martins Creek Baptist Church in Martins Creek North Carolina.

Ray will always be remembered in the community as active, opinionated and giving of his time and abilities. He served on the City Council of Copperhill and the Fourth Fractional Township for more than 30 years.
He will always be remembered by his children as committed, hard-working, loving, caring, encouraging and giving. He was seldom found at home because of visiting with family and friends. Hardly a week passed that he didn't call upon his mother on Wednesday and Sunday to ensure her well-being. His Grand's and Great Grand's knew him as kind, giving and fun loving whether he was enjoying a trip or playing that game that he enjoyed so much, it was a Great Day!
