Robert Michael Farmer

Robert Michael Farmer "Mike", age 62 of Beaverdam Community, passed away October 28, 2014 at his home in Murphy. Mike was born December 26, 1951 in Murphy to the late Lon and Braska Allen Farmer. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Archie Farmer, infant brother Roger Farmer, sisters Virginia Langford, Vivian Craig, and Ellen Bryant. Mike was a loving husband to Brenda for 41 years and was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Mike was a disabled Army veteran, having served in Germany during Vietnam. He previously worked doing right-of-way work at Hewitts Clifton, and OMC. He has been retired for several years due to his health but enjoyed time with his wife and raising and trading goats.

Survivors include loving wife Brenda Jean Lee Farmer, daughter Melinda Jean Farmer Lance and husband Jeff of Marble, NC, grandchildren Kristen and Matthew Roper, and two sisters Vickie Skaggs and Barbara McCoy both of Murphy. Also, several nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy with the Rev. Jerry Kilpatrick officiating. Music provided by Penny Pendergrass. Interment followed in the Bryant Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Roper, Jeff Lance, Jeff McCoy, Rickey Lance, "Little" John Pendergrass, and Donnie Palmer. Honorary pallbearers are Don Farmer, Doug Farmer, Roger Farmer, Robert Skaggs and Kenny Hamby.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, at the funeral home from 1-2 pm.
