Robert E. Meek, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away June 25, 2012 at his home after battling cancer. Robert Meek was 92 years of age. He was born in Berryville, AK on March 11, 1920 to Clarence and Helen Brown Meek. Robert graduated from the University of Kentucky and was a World War II veteran. He was married to Frances Calvert Green for 65 years.
Robert was a research professor in the Electronics Division and head of the Instruments Lab in the Nuclear Research Center at Georgia Tech from 1951-June 1974. After retiring from Georgia Tech, Robert went onto Southern Services in Birmingham, Alabama as an Electrical Designer Engineer. He retired from Southern Company in 1985. During retirement, Robert designed adaptive toys for kids with disabilities and volunteered his services to several organizations including his church.
Robert and Frances moved to Blue Ridge, Georgia in 2001 where he cared for his wife who had Alzheimer's until her death. Robert was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, Georgia and is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, brother, and grandson. He is survived by his 4 children, Terry, Sharon, Pat, and Polly and their families, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family.
Not only a father, grandfather, and great grandfather and friend to many, he was also an inventor, problem solver, craftsman, and a dreamer. Robert Meek may you rest in peace. We Love You.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Beck officiating. Music provided by soloists, Stacy Gilreath & pianist, Beverly Thompson. Interment followed in the Decatur Cemetery of Decatur, GA. Pallbearers were, Quinton Meek, Robert Volz, Brian Meek, Steven Volz, Troy Meek, Baron Hill, Nathan Meek, Trace Meek.
