Robert (Bob) Ernest McFarland Sr.

Mr. Robert Ernest McFarland Sr., age 84, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, in Blue Ridge, GA. Robert was born January 1, 1939, in Blue Ridge, GA to the late Ernest McFarland and the late Daisy Arp McFarland. Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn P. McFarland and his sister, Lillie Patterson. Robert graduated from West Fannin High School in 1958 and was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1958 until 1962. He earned his pilot's license in 1962 and worked for Delta at the Atlanta Airport as a mechanic. By 1965, he worked as a flight instructor and later worked for Colonial Pipeline as a Co-Pilot until 1969. When he moved back to Blue Ridge, GA, he ran several businesses until 1984, when he opened McFarland Supply and operated it until 2007. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Lois McFarland; son, Robert (Sharon) McFarland Jr; daughters, Lynne Wagoner and Jill (Mickey) Bryant;  step daughter, Glenda "Susi" Higdon; step-son, Joseph Henry; brothers, Tom McFarland and Donnie (Patty Jo) McFarland; grandchildren, Haley Mann, Brandon Massaro, Brian Massaro, Garrison Porter, Alex McFarland, Abigail McFarland, Brandi Clotfelter, Gene McClure, and Clay Henry; step-grandchildren, Adam Dyer, Andy Dyer, John Dyer, and Justin Dyer; great-grandchildren, Bristol Mann, Kinsley Mann, and Strauss Clotfelter; and his beloved fur baby, Lucy.

The family will receive friends at Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Sunday, 12th of March, 2023, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM.
