Robert Ken Sandefur

Mr. Robert McKenzie "Ken" Sandefur, 68, of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Ken was born in Carthage, Texas on September 10, 1948, a son of the late Williard Lee Sandefur and the late Vera Earlene Cox Sandefur. Ken and his wife Sharon had moved to Blairsville in 2008, coming from Madison, Mississippi. Sharon passed away in February of 2016, and Ken loved her dearly and missed her so much after she passed away. He loved to travel, and was an avid motorcycle rider. Ken had a special love for history, especially Civil War history. Ken and Sharon both were members of First Baptist Church of Blairsville. A daughter, Shelley Lynn Sandefur, also preceded her father in death.

Surviving family members include a son, Scott Sandefur, of Ridgeland, Mississippi; a brother and sister-in-law, David Lee Sandefur and his wife, Janice, of Brandon, Mississippi.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm, also at Parkway Funeral Home, with burial in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland, where Ken will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Sharon.
