Robert Harold Parker, 85, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Serenity Hospice in Dublin, Georgia. He was a lifelong resident of Morganton, Georgia before moving to Dublin in April of 2016.
Mr. Parker was born on October 24, 1930 in Suches, Georgia to James and Ida Parker. He was one of 7 sons and 4 daughters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Prince Parker. He is survived by his son, Barry M. Parker (Jennifer), two grandchildren Harrison and Megan Parker, James (Shirley) Parker, Gene (Sandra) Parker, Adel Parker Floyd, Jean Prince Moore, Martha Prince Helton, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mr. Parker was an Army Veteran having served in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery. He was an ASA Production Supervisor for Tennessee Chemical Company. He served in numerous civic organizations including the first Fannin County Hospital Authority and the Kiwanis Club of Blue Ridge. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and gardening. His interest also included politics, gospel and blue grass music.
He was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Morganton, Georgia and attended Dudley Baptist Church during his time in Dublin, Georgia.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 26, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Henry Cochran Funeral home in Blue Ridge, Georgia. A memorial service will be at Temple Baptist Church (Morganton, Georgia) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 27. Interment will be in the Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Temple Baptist Church.
