Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Richard Marvin Johnson, age 81, of Blairsville, who passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Plant City, Florida, and had lived in Blairsville since 1985. Richard had served 8 years in the National Guard. He was a member of Coosa United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his love of his family, the outdoors - especially these mountains! He was a good husband, father, and grandfather, and everyone who knew him loved him.
Family members left to treasure his memory are: his wife, Marie, of Blairsville; daughter, Kimberly Ann Johnson, of Plant City, Florida; daughter, Karen Leighann Johnson, of Phoenix, Arizona; son, Jimmie David Fordham, of Plant City; and daughter, Deborah Michelle Grizzle, of Suches, Georgia; sister, Betty Henneberger, of Riverview, Florida; and brother, Charles Johnson, of Plant City; 6 grandchildren: Navannah, Chelsea, Krystina, Marissa, Delaney, and Wyatt; four great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnson have been scheduled for Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Roy Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, beginning at 12 noon, for two hours before the funeral service.
The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers: Ed Raymond, Rick Sterbo, Bill Atkinson, James Bridges, Ryan Johnson, and Dustin Johnson.
Flowers are being accepted; however, if you wish to do so, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or to the American Cancer Society.
