Richard Robert Lindvig

Richard Robert Lindvig, 88, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Union General Hospital. Richard was born December 13, 1934, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin to Howard and Marguerite Lindvig. 

Richard was preceded in death by father, Howard Lindvig; mother, Marguerite Lindvig; step-daughter, Jeanne Kelsey; brother, Michael Lindvig; and sister, Judi Jesse.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Elizabeth Lindvig; son Richard (Martha) Lindvig; son Scott Lindvig; daughter Jana (Scott) Wilson; daughter Wendy (Richard) Lindvig Jones; step-son John Kelsey; step-daughter Janet (Michael) Downs; sister, Joan Peterson; brother Daniel Lindvig; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Richard was a member of First Baptist Church in Blairsville, Georgia. He was a follower of Christ, devoted husband and father, and his grandchildren described him as "the best Grandpa." A true mastercraftsman, he was a woodcarver, basket maker, and furniture builder. He was known to say that the day was not complete until he made sawdust. He served our country in the Navy for 20 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan's Purse.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 1, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville with Rev. Ricky Powell officiating. Music will be provided by Terry Hooper. The family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville Saturday Saturday, 1st of April, 2023, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM. 

Burial will be on Monday, April 3, 2023, in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, at 1:00 p.m.
