Richard Clayton Sturr

Loving husband and father, Richard (Dick) Sturr, age 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 21,2021 after a brief illness. Born in Springfield, OH, Richard grew up in Dayton, OH where he met the love of his life, soul mate and wife of 72 years, Mildred. They had three daughters, Linda Kniess (John) of Blairsville, Jane Shaffer (Jack) of Quincy, OH and Dr. Marianne Sturr (Jim Cahill) of Margate, NJ and were blessed with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dick served as Executive Vice President of Universal One Credit Union in Dayton, OH until his retirement in 1989. He and Millie then moved to Hiawassee and built their dream home in the mountains. He remained an avid Ohio State football fan and could often be seen wearing his Buckeye cap around town. Richard loved life and lived it with a passion. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he met and he was known by many as “Mr. Perfect.” In lieu of flowers please pass a kindness forward.
