Richard P. "The Fonz" Barth, age 79 of Blue Ridge, GA passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024 with his family by his side. Richard was born and raised in Queens, NY; the son of Hermann and Anna Barth.
After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he became a police officer with the Town of Fallsburg Police Department in NY. After 7 years of service, Richard relocated to Sunrise, FL where he became a police officer with the City of Plantation Police Department and attained the rank of Detective. After 37 years of distinguished service in Law Enforcement, Richard retired.
Richard was a highly respected member of the Plantation Fraternal Order of Police, Broward County Police Benevolent Association, The American Legion, Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and Elk's Lodge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Barth; his proud son and daughter whom followed in his footsteps as police officers; Todd Barth (son) and wife Melissa and Mary Barth (daughter) and husband Mark Skolnick; his brother Herman Barth of Port Jervis, NY; his four grandchildren of S. Florida, Sarah and Chase Barth and Taylor and Matthew Skolnick along with several nieces and nephews.
To know Richard was an honor and as he would say "Death is But a Journey to a Better Life."
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any animal humane society as Richard had a special place in his heart for the animals, especially kitty cats.
