Richard Ashley McGowan

In Memorium. After a rapid decline in health, Richard Ashley McGowan passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014, at his home in Hiawassee, Georgia. Richard was born on December 14, 1950 in Columbus, Georgia, was a graduate of Columbus High School, and prior to moving to Hiawassee, he lived for many years in Atlanta, where he worked for Portman Properties and the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. He leaves behind his loving wife Gloria, of the home, and a loving daughter, Angela K. McGowan, of Decatur, Georgia and her mother, Judy McGowan. Other family members include one brother, Ralph Michael McGowan of Columbus, and two nieces, Heather McGowan of Atlanta, and Meredith McGowan of Columbus. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Catherine Watkins McGowan, who were lifelong residents of Columbus. No funeral service is planned. Remembrances in his name to the ASPCA or your local pet shelter would be welcome. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee.
