Rex Stacey Schuette

May 26, 1949 — September 9, 2024

Rex Stacey Schuette, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 9, 2024. He was born on May 26, 1949 in Utica, Michigan, to the late Werner and Helen Schuette.

Rex was a man who truly embodied the essence of selflessness. He found joy in making those around him feel special, always considering their needs before his own. His kindness touched many lives, and his legacy of compassion will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

During his 46-year career, Rex earned the trust and respect of many as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at United Community Bank, Inc before retiring in 2017. Rex was not only known for his brilliance, but also for his heart. He dedicated his career - and life - to empowering, developing, and celebrating those around him. His accomplishments were evidenced with awards from the Atlanta Business Chronicle: CFO of the Year for Small-Medium Public Company (2016) and the Lifetime Achievement Award (2018).

Out of the office, Rex shared countless memories on the golf course, particularly enjoying rounds with his son, Grant. His adventurous spirit shone through during motorcycle rides with his brothers, from the North Georgia mountains all the way to Sturgis, South Dakota.

Rex will be profoundly missed by his cherished family. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Andrea Schuette, and his loving children, Cameron (Jacob Kaplan) Schuette and Grant Schuette; brothers Rick (Sandy) Schuette, Bryan (Carol) Schuette, and Bruce (Colleen) Schuette, and many more relatives.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 15th, 2024, at Cochran'McDaniel Funeral Home Blairsville Chapel at 1:00pm.

A reception will be held after at the Union County Community Center from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm.
