Mrs. Retha Ruby Walden, age 97 of Mineral Bluff passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Walden was born January 31, 1920 in McCaysville, GA to the late Sanford Blaine Loudermilk and the late Mary M. Bruner Loudermilk. A member of Panter Town Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by husband, Fred M. Walden, Sr., daughter, Freda Stillwell and great-grandson, D.J. Duffey. Retha was a member of the Eastern Star Beulah Chapter 21 of McCaysville and she enjoyed trout fishing, solving puzzle books and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was a Braves fan and liked watching Bill and Chase Elliott Race and was well known for making delicious and beautifully decorated cakes.
Survivors include son, Fred (Phyllis) Walden, Jr., daughter, Carol Gaguski, daughter, Mary Evelyn (Newt) Goss, son, Sandy (Joy) Walden, twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the Pan-Will Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Walden, Ryan Walden, Chad Walden, Chad Walden, Jr., Jody Stillwell, Skip Berrier and Bo Goss . Honorary pallbearers are Rudolph Shawn Gaguski, Gordon Walden, Zachary Walden, Charlie Thomas and Charlie Farmer.
The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
