Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Reta Mary Watson Peck, age 97, of Blairsville, who passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Peck was born in Atlanta, on October 6, 1915, a daughter of the late Clyde R. Watson and the late Evelyn Ward Watson. Mrs. Peck left Atlanta as a 9 year old and moved to Florida with her parents. After 50 years, she moved back to Georgia. North Georgia, and especially the Trackrock area, had been a place she loved to visit during those 60 plus years she was away. Mrs. Peck was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing and gardening and loved to read books. Mrs. Peck was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church in Hiawassee. Her husband of 61 years, Arthur L. Peck, preceded her in death; an infant grandson, Wade Hampton Thomas and a sister, Evelyn Ward, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Peck was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family: daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Steve Bennett, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Lola Peck, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Glen Hart, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren: Emily and her husband Eugene Robertson, of DuBuque, Iowa and Chris Peck of Savannah, GA; two great grandchildren: Elizabeth Robertson and Timothy Robertson; two very special friends, Frances Rollins and Rita Brewer.
Funeral services for Mrs. Peck have been scheduled for Sunday, November 25th, 2012, at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Bill Earnest officiating. Services will be held in Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with special music presented by granddaughter Emily Robertson. Serving as pallbearers will be; Christopher Peck, Lee Baenninger, Charles Chancey, Don Thomas, Richard Thomas and Lyle Hester. Burial will be in Osborn Cemetery in Hiawassee. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Sunday, November 25th, starting at 2:00 p.m., one hour before the service starts.
