Reba Marie Sosebee

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mrs. Reba Marie Foster Sosebee, age 77, of Blairsville, Georgia, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, April 7th, 2022 at her home, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Sosebee was born at home in Union County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Lewis Parker Foster and the late Willie Galloway Foster. Reba was the ninth child of eleven children in her family. Directly out of high school, on June 28th, 1963, she married Marcus Sosebee, who unwaveringly stood by her side 58 years. For 36 of those years, she drove the school bus, or "The Knowledge Wagon", as she called it, for the Union County School System, where she loved and looked after each child that stepped on.

Being the strong-willed woman that she was, both physically and spiritually, Reba was time and time again found laboring willingly with her hands and working alongside, or oftentimes, ahead of the men. The love Mrs. Sosebee possessed for Mt. Zion Baptist Church was unmatched, and she served as a dedicated member there for many years.

Beside her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Regina Patterson, Kermit Foster, Kenneth Foster, Keith Foster, Carmen Foster, Evelyn Foster, and Clella Foster.

Mrs. Reba will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by her loving family members: loving husband, Marcus; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Spud Hemphill; daughter, Rachel Sosebee; and son, Marcus Sosebee, Jr., known as "Pete"; as well as her grandchildren: Christopher Ledbetter, Jonathan "Pepper" and Janna Ledbetter, Bridget and Koty Queen, Brittany Hemphill, Brianna Hemphill, and Kendon Hemphill; great-grandchldren: Triston Ledbetter, Weston Ledbetter, Lane Ledbetter, Lucas Ledbetter, and Everett Queen; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 10th, 2022, to be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Monday, April 11th, 2022, to be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where the body will lie instate at 1:00 p.m., and the service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Harold Underwood, Larry Weaver, and Jonathan "Pepper" Ledbetter. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers: Shannon Carroll, Michael Patterson, Kent Foster, Parker Foster, Kevin Foster, and Kendon Hemphill. Requested to serve as honorary pallbearers are: Keiter Foster, Kendall Foster, Christopher Ledbetter, Triston Ledbetter, Terry Foster, Keith Foster, Jr., and Gary Sosebee.
