Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death of Raymond L. "Lee" McClure, age 74, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mr. McClure was born in Young Harris, Georgia, on August 10, 1938, a son of R.L. and Toledo Giddens McClure. Lee owned and operated United Van Lines in Massachusetts for many years before returning to live in Blairsville. Mr. McClure was an animal lover and supporter of animal rights. He had two beloved Yorkies, Mollie & Oliver. Another of his loves was antiquing. Lee canvassed the North Georgia area looking for and procuring treasures. Lee was a Christian and was passionate about spreading the word of Jesus Christ.
He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: son, Marc McClure; grandsons, Clay & Devin McClure; sisters, Edna Bearden and Fran Miller; wife, Kay McClure, 4 step-children and many step- grandchildren. Numerous other relatives also survive in the Dalton, Georgia area.
The family is planning private memorial services to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to Humane Society Mountain Shelter, P.O. Box 1252
