Raymond Mullings, referred to as Fred by his beloved wife, age 80, of Blue Ridge, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Fannin Regional Hospital. Mr. Mullings was born May 13, 1941, in Bronx, NY, to the late Clement Mullings and the late Dorothy Forbes Mullings. Ray devoted 21 years of service in the United States Army, with an illustrious career including two tours of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter gunner and in mobile communications, where he was shot down twice, and two years as a Drill Instructor. Master Sergeant Mullings received the Meritorious Service medal, the Army Commendation medal, Air Medal, and the Bronze Star for his dedication, as well as multiple ribbons honoring his service to his country. Ray had several interests, including electronics, computers, and photography, which he often displayed on Facebook.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clement Mullings, mother, Dorothy Mullings, brother, Michael Mullings, and sister, Diane King.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Mullings, sons, Raymond (Susan) Mullings and Michael (Shanna) Mullings, daughter, Donna Dee Mullings, sisters-in-law, Linda Mullings and Donna Mobley, brothers-in-law, Ronald Bisson and Gary Bisson, a grandson and great-grandchildren as well as multiple nieces & nephews, including his beloved Nicole.
Memorial service: Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rusty Thomas officiating. The North Georgia Honor Guard will perform Military Honors. Interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Saturday, February 19, 2022, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
