Mr. Ray Bradley Hogsed, age 87 of Andrews, passed away November 18, 2012 at his home. Ray was born April 2, 1925 in Andrews, NC to the late Grady and Kate Bradley Hogsed. He served in the Navy during WWII, being stationed on the supply ship USS YMS 163 during the battle and invasion of Layte Gulf in the Phillipines. He retired from the City of Andrews as the Maintenance supervisor. In his spare time, he enjoyed coaching children's football and baseball. He loved nature, his dogs and cats, being in the mountains, watching birds, and he was an avid fisher and hunter. Ray also enjoyed Golfing up until his later years, especially with his Doctor Gary Roper. He knew a variety of trades, loved gardening and landscaping.
Survivors include loving wife of 66 yrs, Alice T. Hogsed, daughter, Jean Hogsed, son & daughter in law, Malcolm & Jean Hogsed, sister, Doris Ann Rogers, two grandchildren, Malisha Breeze, & Nathan Jonah, and great-granddaughter, Mackenna. Also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the United Methodist Church of Andrews with the Minister Mike McDonald officiating. Music provided by Carol Maennle.
The family will receive friends at the church from 6-7 pm before the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund at the Andrews United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1310, Andrews, NC 28901.
