Randall Collins, age 84 of Blairsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by cherished loved ones on June 27, 2024.

Randall Benny Collins was born May 24, 1940 in Blairsville, Ga, the son of the late Francis Walter Collins and the late Pauline Thomas Collins. Randall’s life was rooted in bluegrass music from an early age. He had an ear for pickin’ tunes that spoke to the soul of many. Randall’s heart overflowed with love for his friends and family. He touched countless lives with his infectious spirit and genuine kindness. Whether he was pickin’ music, cooking, or hosting gatherings, Randall's love filled the room. Randall was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church. 

Randall leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his friend of 63 years and mother to his children, JoLynne Payne Collins of Blairsville, Ga, daughter and son in law, Sherri and Terry Jones of Blairsville, Ga, son and daughter in law, Benny and Shawna Collins of Blairsville, Ga, daughter and son in law, Renee and Doug Duckworth of Blairsville, Ga, daughter and son in law, Jamie and Tony Shook of Hiawassee, Ga, daughter and son in law Sonya and Everett Burt of Dawsonville, Ga, brother and sister in law, FC and Shelley Collins of Blairsville, Ga, sister in law, Joan Owenby Collins of Blairsville, Ga, sister and brother in law, Anita Dyer and the late Herbert Dyer of Blairsville, Ga, fifteen grandchildren who loved and called him Pap; Kayla Duckworth, Cody Shook, Justin (Erika) Collins, Chad (Kaleigh) Shook, Korey (Katelyn) Duckworth, Amanda Collins, Kalvin (Melina) Duckworth, Logan (Rachael) Burt, Katelyn Jones, Chase (Ashley) Shook, Carley (Logan) Brumbelow, Easton Collins, Carson Collins, Tennon Collins, and Finley Collins, and seven great grandchildren who called him Grancer; Cecilia Shook, Morgan Collins, Cohen Collins, Miller Collins, Charlotte Shook, Beckett Brumbelow, and Tilly Duckworth. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, AJ Collins.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Old Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Vic Blackwell officiating with special words by grandson, Carson Collins. Special music will be presented by The Collins Family. The family will meet with friends at Cochran Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00-9:00.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers Cody Shook, Justin Collins, Chad Shook, Korey Duckworth, Kalvin Duckworth, Logan Burt, and Chase Shook. Honorary pallbearers are Easton Collins, Carson Collins, and Tennon Collins.

As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life of Randall, whose spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to make donations to Old Liberty Baptist Church and Union County Historical Society.
