Mr. Ralph Edward Dailey, age 83 of Murphy, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 31, 2011. Mr. Dailey was born September 6, 1928 in Murphy, NC, to Mark and Cleo Champion Dailey. Mr. Dailey served 23 years in the United States Army. He was a veteran of the World War II, Korean Conflict and the Vietnam eras as well as during peacetime. Ralph was a member of VFW Post 7620, Andrews, NC. He was also a member of Woods Grove Baptist Church in Young Harris, GA, where he loved to go on Sunday Mornings.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Trull Dailey of Murphy and a large family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved him deeply.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 2, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with the Rev. Richard Roberson and Rev. Scott Sims officiating. Music will be provided by Larry and Marilyn Berrong of Woods Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Moss Cemetery Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:00 am with Military Honors by the Andrews VFW Post #7620 and the United States Army. Pallbearers: Lucas Luther, Derek Luther, Bryan Luther, Cody Luther, Gary Rogers and Greg Pullium. Honorary pallbearers: Doyle White, Bill Mintz and Dale Pullium.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy, Monday, January 2, 2012 from 5:00- 7:00 pm.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Rathburn Center, 121 Sherwood Rd., Asheville, NC 28803-2426 in memory of Ralph.
