Pearl Nixon Collins Gilreath, age 100, of Morganton, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at Pruett Health Care. Mrs.Gilreath was born September 25, 1917 in Martinez, CA, to the late Frank Nixon and Dove Garrison Nixon. Pearl was a member of Morganton Baptist Church where she had served in several capacities over the years and she had also been an active member of the Morganton Homemaker Club. Mrs. Gilreath is preceded in death by two sisters, Muriel and Hertha and by two husbands, Uyless Collins and Hershal Gilreath.
Survivors include: nephew and caregiver, Ronnie (Judy) Bennett, nephew, Larry (Irene) Thomas, nieces, Lynda (David) Haight and Janet Tipton, step daughter and caregiver, Patsy (Thomas) Nichols, step daughters, Kathleen Kirkland, Ina Brawley, and Brenda (Archie) Farmer, step grandchildren, Marla (James) Cody, Michael (Maxine) Cody, Rhonda (Robert) Cody, Barbara (Jay) Cearley, Ricky (Jessica) Brawley, Jeff (Sarah) Farmer, Christy (T.C.) Coleman, and Stacy (Bruce) Borders, 5 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services: Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 2:00 pm from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Eric Kincaid officiating. Music provided by Greg Norton and Beverly Thompson. Interment will follow in Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Daryn Bennett, Kevin Collins, Wayland Collins, Austin Kirkland, Larry Thomas and Archie Farmer.
