Pearl Griggs Phillips, age 85, of Young Harris, GA passed away Friday, July 27, 2012 at her home in Young Harris, Georgia.
Pearl was born on April 30, 1927 in Clay County, North Carolina, to the late Walter and Alice Martin Griggs. She was a member of Many Forks Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning, and cooking large meals for her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Phillips, as well as two sisters, Bertha Gibson and Hazel Henderson.
She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: daughter, Carrie Phillips of Hiawassee, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Vaughn Elliott of Blue Ridge, GA; son, Alvin Phillips of Young Harris, GA; sister, Carrie Belle Justice of Belmont, NC; grand-daughters, Winter Elliott Anderson, Ashley Davis, and Kayla Phillips; grandson, Michael Elliott; great grand-daughters, Kamryn Mull and Bristol Davis, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. from Many Forks Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Musical tribute will be provided by The Troy Phillips family. Interment will follow in the Many Forks Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Roy Phillips, Troy Phillips, Douglas Queen, Robert Dye, Phil Williamson and John Davis.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
