Oscar C. Henry, age 88 of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, at his home surrounded by family and friends following an extended illness. Mr. Henry was born on April 11, 1931, and was a lifelong resident of Fannin County. He established the Henry Funeral Home on January 1, 1968, serving as the owner and manager for 21 years. After selling the funeral home to the Cochran family in 1989, he established yet another funeral home in Fairmont, GA. He served on the Board of Directors at Fannin Regional Hospital and was a 50+ year member of Mineral Bluff Lodge # 483 F & AM. He was a member of Toccoa Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the choir. He played a large role in the lives of many residents in Fannin County. He loved serving the public and enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Everett and Beulah Davis Henry, brothers: JP Henry, Emmett Henry, Dan Henry, and Thomas Henry. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Clara Rose Henry, two daughters: Joyce (Michael) Goolsby of Littleton, CO, Janice (Nick) Goggins of Acworth, GA, and son, Christopher (Kelly) Hulsey of Blue Ridge, GA. Five grandchildren: Stacey Wilson, Dustin Lovett, Cory Lovett, Blake Goggins, Kyle Goggins, and Harrison Hulsey. Six great-grandchildren: Brittany Graham, Bradley Graham, Jonah, June, and Jasper Lovett, Hayden Lovett, Kolbie and Knova Goggins and three great-great-grandchildren. Five sisters: Arzetta Buchanan of Mineral Bluff, Margie Brown of Mineral Bluff, Faye (James) Dillard of Mineral Bluff, Dorothy Conner of Carrollton, GA, Jane (Norman) Owens of Buford, GA, and one brother: Alvin (Joann) Henry of Mineral Bluff. A host of nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at Toccoa Baptist Church on Thursday, June 27 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins & Rev. Jerry Banks officiating and music provided by Nancy Watkins, Joel Collis, Brian Huffman, and Dixie Aires. Interment will follow at the Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Fred Ballew, Junior Kyle, Blake Goggins, Kyle Goggins, Jim Falls, and Steve Cochran. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 26 from 4-9 pm. Cochran Funeral Home on Blue Ridge is in charge of the arrangements.
