Opal Faye Hamby

Mrs. Opal Faye Hamby, age 76, of Blairsville passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 in the Union General Hospital. Mrs Hamby was born April 24, 1933 in Union County the daughter of the late Leonard and Mattie Shook Howell. She was a native and long time resident of Union County and was a member of the Choestoe Baptist Church. Mrs. Hamby was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis Hamby of Blairsville, Daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Randy Hensley of Duluth, GA and Kathy and Ron Guess of Sugar Hill, GA, granddaughter, Shannon Edwards of Buford, GA and grandson, Jacob Hensley of Sugar Hill. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from Choestoe Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Zollinger and Chaplain Ron Guess officiating. The body will lie in state at the church Monday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are: Buck Martinez, Eddie Owens, Randy Hensley, Jacob Hensley, Dean Collins and Keith Howell. Music will be provided by Mr. Eddie Owens. Interment will follow in the Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery.
