Mrs. Opal B. Heaton, age 89 of Mineral Bluff, passed away February 18, 2015 at Gilmer County Nursing Home. Mrs. Heaton was born October 17, 1925 in Smithville, TN to the late Andrew Jackson Bennett and the late Mattie Lee Bain Bennett. She was a member of Salem #2 Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, Rev. Douglas Jackson Heaton, Sr., her parents and seven siblings. She was a homemaker who loved the Lord and her family.
Survivors include: son, Douglas Heaton, Jr., daughter, Karen Hicks, son, Farion Heaton, son, John (Cindy) Heaton, son, Jim (Patty) Heaton, sister, Wilma Thomas, brothers-in-law, A. J. Heaton, Gerald Heaton, Winston Ralston, Jim Hardee, seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Hooper officiating. Music provided by: A.C. Caylor Family and J.W. Patterson. Interment will follow in the Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: A.C. Caylor, Frank Bowles, Tony Rhodes, Dave Bayless, Steve Bennett and Phillip Thomas.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defer funeral costs.
