Omah devoted her life to her children, Nancy and Patricia, and taking care of her home. She was dedicated to the family businesses, Rogers Grocery Store and Collins Department Store. Omah is remembered by Patricia as a mother who was determined she would learn to play the piano by setting a timer on the instrument for 30 minutes each day during her strictly supervised practice session. Nancy remembers her mother providing her with opportunities to learn at a very young age. She drove Nancy to Hayesville where she was enrolled in a special kindergarten program attended by only a few children from Blairsville. Omah was known by her friends and neighbors as loving and helpful. She was an active member of the Blairsville United Methodist Church until she was disabled after a car accident in 2007. Following the accident, Omah resided at Union County Nursing Home where she uplifted the spirits of those who took care of her. Her nurses and CNAs provided her with excellent care loved her. Our Mother lived her last six years in the memory of her past. We have learned from her how important it is to make good memories.
