Mrs. Nora Mae (Powell) Bryson, age 95 of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away on Friday October 2nd, 2020.
Mrs. Bryson was born on September 24th, 1925 in Young Harris to the late Sam and Cora Powell. Nora Mae was a lifelong resident of Towns County and was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church and God’s Messengers. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Her favorite things were her jigsaw puzzles, eating chocolate, and using her tops snuff. She was a loving mother, sister, Mammaw, and Mother-in-law. She is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Bryson, sister, Wilma Shook, and brothers, Wayde Powell, Sr. and Charles Powell.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; Alice (Reggie) Sprinkles; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Heidi and Chris Shook; great-granddaughter, Tori Shook; 3 special grandchildren, Angie McNabb, Maddie Nichols, and Lorie Ann Moss; sister, Jean McKin; special caretaker, Linda Barnhill and former caretaker, Shirley Mitchell.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday October 4th, 2020 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee with family and friends and Rev. Billy Nicholson officiating. Special words will be by Tori Shook. Music and vocals will be by the Shook Family. Interment will follow in the Cornerstone Cemetery with George Sosebee, Tracy Jenkins, Eddie Rushton, Frank Shook, Bobby Nichols, and Wayde Powell, Jr. all serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason McNabb and Wayne Plattenberger.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Saturday October 3rd, 2020 at the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee.
