Nellie Jean Collis Griggs, age 91, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Cameron Hall in Canton, Georgia. Mrs. Griggs was the daughter of the late Willie F. Collis and Bonnie Mae Barnes Collis. She is preceded in death by her daughters, Glenda G.Wisenbaker and Claire F. Farley, and brother and sister-in-law; Luther and Sue Collis
Mrs. Griggs was a member of Epworth First Baptist Church and was also employed for 32 years with the First National Bank of Polk County as a teller and a loan officer. One of her favorite hobbies was square dancing and she loved being with her grandchildren.
Survivors include: son-in-law; Doug Farley, sister; Ellen "Pat" Hardin, grandchildren; Tracey Farley and Nicole Yarnall, great grandchildren; Robert (Jack) Yarnall and Nicholas Yarnall, "special" grandchildren; Sarah Owenby Rice and Caleb Owenby.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2015, at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Epworth with Dr.Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be provided by Doug Simonds and Vernon Owenby. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers; Isaac Rice, Caleb Owenby, Rick Ledford, Jim Quintrell, Steve Cheatham, Mike Campbell, and Ronnie Kimsey. Interment will follow in Barnes Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Monday, July 27, 2015.
