Nancy Whitener Golden

Mrs. Nancy Whitener Golden, age 60 of Murphy, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the N.E. Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. Mrs. Golden was born February 14, 1958, in Murphy, NC, to the late Robert Whitener and Neva Jean Bates Whitener. She was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County and a member of Hanging Dog Baptist Church. Mrs. Golden retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation after 37 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and taking care of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by father, Robert Elee Whitener, brother, Robert William Whitener, and sister, Neva Sue Ellison.

Survivors include mother, Neva Jean Whitener, husband of 40 years, Rev. Ned Golden, daughter, Kayala (Cody) Messer, son, Cody (Shelby) Golden, granddaughter, Paige Messer, grandson, Talen Messer, granddaughter, Harper Messer, and grandson, James Golden.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 27, 2018, at 6:00 pm at the Hanging Dog Baptist Church.
