The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Nancy Carolyn Waters, age 88, who passed away on December 5th, 2021, into the arms of her savior.
Nancy was a Clay County, NC resident of over a decade. She settled here after her and her husband Don Waters Sr. moved from Palm Harbor, FL. Their love affair began in the Piedmont region some 60 years ago after visiting several times to the region. They ultimately built a log cabin which still remains, high on a mountain they named, Mt Tabor in Topton, NC.
Nancy attended Florida State University and studied in Fashion Design. She was a homemaker, wife, mother to many, and the finest seamstress ever known. Her creativity didn’t just stop with sewing, but expanded into many areas, another of which was oil paintings. She studied under a well-known artist, in Clearwater, FL. She used that platform to share who Jesus is and with that came a love and understanding of God’s word.
God had a higher calling on Nancy’s life. In her journey, God had multiple mandates in which she fulfilled to her last day. She understood the importance of what Jesus said in the scripture, Matthew 6, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as in Heaven.” Nothing delighted her more, than to have conversation about Jesus Christ.
She was instrumental in many ministries and movements, here in the U.S and, worldwide, but her most important mandate was to her family. As a follower of Jesus Christ, Psalm 78:4 was an essential role in her life: “but tell the generation to come the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonderful works that He has performed.”
Nancy is survived by; her sister Lucy Tacot & husband Tee Tacot and brother Jim Joyce & wife Ola Joyce. Two sons, Donald E Waters Jr & wife Kathy Waters, Guy Waters & wife Heather Waters, and daughter Darlene Gill & husband James Gill. Nancy has 10 grandchildren with six great grandchildren and one (soon to be coming) great great grand child.
And so it is, her legacy, the richness of her life, the accomplishments and impact she had on people was far reaching. May we learn from her.
Nancy will be forever missed, yet we celebrate in her life. We love you mom. Look for each of us on that day, God has predestined. Delight in Eternity!
