Mrs. Myrtle Frances Garrett Collins, age 73, of Blairsville, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mrs. Collins was born in Union County, Georgia, on June 4, 1942, a daughter of the late Link Garrett and the late Martha Seabolt Garrett. She was a lifelong resident of this area, and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Collins loved working outside in her garden and was known as a very good cook. She had been preceded in death by her husband, Archie, in 2003; and a brother, Rev. Willis Garrett, and a sister, Beulah Penland.
Mrs. Collins will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by her loving family members: daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ricky Manus; son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Carol Collins; brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Jean Garrett; sisters, Mae Clark and Bessie Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Joe Powers; sister, Shirley Carey; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Hubert Shook; and sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Bo Conley; two grandchildren: Blake Manus and Andrew Collins; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Collins have been scheduled for Monday, April 11, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville. Music will be presented by The Wilson Family. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Blake Manus, Andrew Collins, Justin Collins, Rodney Carey, Jerry Dixon, and McKinlee Stephens. Burial will be in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will begin on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.
