Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Montine Tatum Lowury, age 92 years, of Hiawassee, Georgia, who passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Lowury was born in Sautee, Georgia, on January 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Irennes Amelico Tatum and Nettie Elizabeth Wilbanks Tatum. She was a homemaker and had been preceded in death by her husband, John Russell Lowury. Mrs. Lowury had been living in Hiawassee since 2006, moving here from Tucker, Georgia. She was a member of Brookhaven Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. A grandson, Rusty Hill, had also preceded Mrs. Lowury in death; and two sisters, Irene Crumbly and Bernadine Benefield; and a brother, Artemis Tatum.
Mrs. Lowury leaves behind these family members to treasure her memory: daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Julius Hill, of Suwanee, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Bill Bacon, of Hiawassee; sister, Vondel Caudell, of Helen, Georgia; five grandchildren: Preston Hill, Dawn Jarrell, Ron Hill, Ryan Bacon, and Christy Darnell; ten great grandchildren also survive. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lowury have been scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel at North Atlanta Laurelwood Memorial Park Chapel Cemetery in Dunwoody, Georgia. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held in Hiawassee at Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, on Monday, April 1, 2013, between the hours of 2:00 until 5:00 p.m.
