Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Monita Amanda Hall Thomas, who passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at her home in Carleton, Michigan. Mrs. Thomas was born December 17, 1928 in Warne, North Carolina. She was the third of five siblings born to Ferman and Estie Hall. She married Tensley Edward Thomas (Ed) of Blairsville, Georgia on November 24, 1946. Together they reared three children in Flint, Michigan. After his retirement from General Motors in 1980, they moved back to Blairsville. She faithfully served in her churches, both in Michigan and Georgia, teaching Sunday School for over 40 years. She lived with her son in Carleton, Michigan since 2006. Christ called her into his glory on July 2, 2017 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Rachel Mooney. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Harvey (David); son Steven Thomas(Sheree); brother Joe Hall; sister Oleta Handy; nine grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory, with her son, Rev. Steven Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hills Cemetery in Hiawassee, Georgia. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday evening, July 8, 2017 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
