Mildred A. George Prentice
Mrs. Prentice passed away peacefully while asleep in her Ranger, NC home, the morning of July 28 ,2008, at age 87. A native of New Haven, Ct. she was born July 15, 1921 and was of the Episcopalian faith. She was a 1939 graduate of Bassick High and a 1943 graduate of Bridgeport (Ct.) Hospital School of Nursing. She was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Corp of Nursing in WWII serving in England and France. For a number of years following her WWII Service, she was an Assistant Evening Supervisor of Nursing at Bridgeport Hospital. Following this she was Remington Electric Shaver?s Occupational Health nurse and next held the same position at Bridgeport Metal Goods. She and Leonard C. Prentice, Jr. were married in Fairfield, Ct. on June 17, 1950. They resided in Fairfield for 33 years prior to retiring to Frippe Island, SC in 1983. In the summer of 1995 they moved to their present home in Ranger.
Haven, PA, and his two daughters and by their daughter, Lynne Anne Dailey and her two sons.
Final arrangements are incomplete; however her ashes will be interred in Maplewood Cemetery, Norwich, Ct., Having traveled, with her husband, throughout the US, Western Europe, South America and the Caribbean; a token of her ashes will be cast in to the Caribbean Sea off of the coast of Aruba ?her favorite Island.
