Michael Anthony James, age 52 of Murphy, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Michael was born Thursday, January 24, 1957 in Cherokee County to Arthur O. James and the late Sue Derrberry James. A member of Marble Springs Baptist Church. He worked as a paramedic since 1984 in Swaine and Cherokee
Survivors include: wife, Juanita Hampton James, father & step mother, Jessie and Laura James of Marble son & daughter-in-law, Christopher & Emily James of Cartersville, GA, step-son, Jackie Thomas of Murphy, step-son, Michael Thomas of Blue Ridge, step-daughter, Tracie Thomas of Franklin, step-daughter, Kim Heavener of High Sholes, NC, step-daughter, Trisha Tanner of Murphy, brother & sister in law, Audy & Pam James of Marble, brother & girl friend, Gary James & Karen Mason of Marble, brother & sister in law, Jeffrey & Jeanie James of Marble, step brother & wife, Keith & Patty Derrberry of Bryson City, sister & husband, Christy & Scott Day of Murphy, sister & husband, Tammy & Thurman Eller of Marble, half sister & husband, Gloria & Jim Burton of Marble, Aunt, Alma Raxter of Marble. fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 4:00PM from the Marble Springs Baptist Church with the Reverend Ben Adams and Reverend L. B. Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Valley River Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Cherokee & Swain County Emergency Personal.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 28, 2-4 PM at Marble Springs Baptist Church.
