USN Retired, loving husband, father and papa
Michael A. Bradley, 67, of Blue Ridge died September 20, 2007 at his home.
Mike was born in Griffin, GA and was the son of the late Harold Bradley and Rosalie Preston.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Post Commander of the Copperhill American Legion, former president of the Tri-Cities Business Association and Kiwanis member.
Mike was a Vietnam Veteran and retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy.
In the years following his military service Mike was plant manager for a plywood company, boiler repairman, real estate investor and restaurant owner. He could be seen most days in recent years visiting with business owners and customers in the McCaysville and Copperhill area, busily promoting all The Basin has to offer.
Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Bradley and his father Harold.
Survivors include his wife of fourty four years, Carolyn Cochran Bradley; Mother Rosalie Preston of Ann Arbor, MI; Son David Bradley of Tampa, Fl; Son & Daughter-in-Law Stephen & Shawn Bradley of Cumming; Daughter & Son-in-Law Dee & Corey Phillips of McCaysville; Sister Nancy Dunlop of St. Louis, MO; Brother Jim Charles of Millidgeville; Brother Al Charles of Ohio; Brother Richard Preston of Farmington Hills, MI; Sister Patricia Preston of Ann Arbor, MI; Five grandchildren; and innumberable nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held September 23 at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Barbara Davidson, Rev. Norma Jean Thomas and Rev. Dan Gatlyn presiding. Music will be by Cathy Steward, Lana Loback, Ruby Thomas, John Sellers, Louise Fitzgerald, Linda Strickland, Larry Strickland, Darrel Strickland, Connie Strickland, Lou Mincey. Pallbearers included Ralph Durrant, Ted Lewis, Jr., Jerry Steward, Rob Bain, Mark Keaton and George Robinson.
Honorary Pallbearers were the Epworth Methodist Men, Bob Barclay,Ron Wallace, and Herb Olnick.
Internment followed in the Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church building fund.
